Friday Letters: What’s the big box behind my TV?

Happy Friday everyone!

I know I didn’t “create” much on the blog this week in the midst of my deathly illness and my birthday so I apologize there wasn’t more content as opposed to me babbling on about my life. Thank you for stickin’ around, I promise next week I’ll feature a recipe or two! For now, Friday letters! Linking up with Ashley.

Dear Google+, You became INSTANTLY cooler last night when I had my first Google hangout with my girlfriends. The google effects were hiiiiilarious. Who doesn’t want to have a conversation wearing a virtual moustache, pirate hat and monocle? Who knew Google + was useful for something?!

Dear iPhone 5, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Got your tracking e-mail and you’re in Mather, CA! I’m praying that means you will be on my doorstep by tonight! (I know, I’m late to the party. Not my fault cough *SPRINT*)

Story of my life

Dear Grey’s Anatomy fans, I know I brought this upon myself but Rob and I are still in Season 8. I’ve got the DVR set so we can catch up in real time soon! I love you all so dearly but it forces me to stay off twitter completely on Thursday night when you’re all screaming “OMGGGGGG ______ is gone!” Lol. I know I have no one to blame but myself.

Dear Disneyland, You and I have SUCH a special relationship and I love you with all my heart. But when our season passes are over, I’ve decided Rob and I can’t renew. I’m going to probably shed a tear or two about that in May but it’s time for Rob and I to see more of the world. I made it one of my 25 before 25 goals that we would travel internationally and we can’t save for that if we keep going to LA. So we’re going to go Disneyland-CRAZY until May 2013 but after that, we’re going to have to take a break. I want some pizza in Italy.

Dear Technology,

Thank you Rob for ushering me in the future.

Dear Evani (yes, talking to myself now), I’m SO proud that you didn’t cry when you got your TB test placement this morning. Clearly being 24 means you’re an adult now. Way to go kiddo.

And just out of curiosity, take a quick second and vote in this poll PLEASEEEEE! 🙂

What are you weekend plans?! I don’t really have any and I’m SUPER excited for that! New TV + Netflix + Football + Bed!

Have a great weekend ya’ll!

Thankfulness Thursday: Birthday Joy

Hi there everyone!

So I was trying to be real cool about missing a blog post today because Rob and I stayed up until an unreasonable hour catching up with Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix (On a brand new HD TV Rob bought me for my birthday! I ❤ love it!) . I mean it was my birthday after all so I tried to justify it to myself, but honestly it’s just giving me anxiety.  Plus, I can’t pass up a Thankfulness Thursday the day after my birthday! Linking up with Ashley from Domestic Fashionista.

I’m thankful for…

…My family celebrating my birthday with me and making it a very special day…

…My Mom’s never ending excitement that it was indeed my birthday…

…Waking up to strings of ribbon hanging from the balloons covering my bedroom ceiling…

…The bouquet of (teal) birthday balloons sitting at my desk when I arrived at work from Rob…

…The endless swarm of birthday wishes on Facebook from friends, family and those I haven’t talked to in ages. I know it’s not cool to admit this but Facebook greetings did bring a smile to my face…

…The kind and warm wishes I received on my blog, twitter, facebook and instagram from my blog friends and readers. Thank you all so much!…

…The thought my close friends put in their birthday greetings. Those greetings speak volumes about our friendship…

…The Michael Kors laptop bag coming my way! Thanks Mom, Dad, Sis and Bro! Lol 1 superficial one had to make it in people…

Most of all, I’m thankful for the opportunity to live everyday in good health with such wonderful people in my life (both in person and over the web!). I’m so blessed.

Haha have I ever told you guys I’m a balloon girl? I LOVE balloons. And cake. Lots of cake.

I can’t let the cake go unnoticed. It’s from the BEST cake shop in Sacramento, Ettore’s. This cake was their Strawberry White Chocolate Mousse cake but I DIE for their Chocolate Mousse cake too. If you come visit me in Sacramento for long enough, I will bring you here, promise.

Thank you all for reading, commenting and being part of this crazy journey I call my life! Here’s to another great year!

25 before 25

Happy Wednesday everyone!

So I’ve been trying not to make a big deal about my birthday because more often than not, I stress myself to high heavens about planning the perfect party with all my friends there and it never 100% pans out. Now with even more of my friends in grad school in various parts of the US, I decided this year I would plan absolutely nothing. And it’s been so wonderful, I feel like this day snuck up on me and it was a really pleasant surprise. For a long time I had been planning on this list of things I want to accomplish by next year and since “25 before 25” had such a nice ring to it, here goes!

  1. Go on at least one international trip.
  2. Get rid of all the clothes that don’t fit me anymore (no excuses!).
  3. Legitimately run an entire 5K, no walking.
  4. Spend some time thinking about what truly makes me happy, and go after it.
  5. Eat at least 5 (new) meals that make my eyes roll to the back of my head.
  6. Find that “signature dish” that I can bring to potlucks, parties etc.
  7. Create that beautiful desk space I’ve been dreaming of.
  8. Drink at least 1 exorbitantly priced wine.
  9. Reconnect with 1 friend from the past (learn to forgive…).
  10. Plan a dinner party with friends.
  11. Do more things on impulse (minus shopping.. eek).
  12. Quit buying uncomfortable heels/shoes that I don’t really want to wear.
  13. Send more postal mail because it’s so much better than anything you can send virtually.
  14. Put away a legitimate amount of savings a month. Don’t shortchange yourself!
  15. Do at least 2 things that completely scare me.
  16. Pray more and Thank God more often.
  17. Tip an outrageous amont for at least 1 meal where the service was above and beyond.
  18. Learn how to sew.
  19. Put some serious work into my fitness journey.
  20. Donate to a charity or find a cause to fundraise for.
  21. Hug my brother and sister more often.
  22. Keep growing my blog but know that what matters most is the quality of reader.
  23. Do more nice things for Rob because he’s the best.
  24. Cook at least a meal a month for my family.
  25. Most importantly, when the going gets tough, remember how lucky I am to live my life (pity yourself less).

I asked a few of my favorite bloggers to send me some birthday advice or to share what advice they would share with their 24 year old self and I’m so happy with the response I got:

Eat More. Drink More. Travel More. Nuff said. – Rima at Bolu by Rima

Start each day, like it’s your birthday. – Kristine at The Foley Fam

If I were going to tell my 24 year old self something it’d be to figure out what exactly you think you want out of life/work/etc and go for it. It’s much easier when you’re younger. Just do it. And if you change your mind along the way, that’s okay. Have fun with your friends and family. Take chances and do the things you love. Tuck away some money into a savings account because you never know what may happen. Life does go on. A lot of those things I tell myself now too. I don’t think that much changes as you get older. Or maybe in my head I’m just still a lot younger. I don’t know. 🙂 – Melissa at Insert Sarcastic Remark Here

Don’t be afraid of the future.  You can do anything you want at 24 and all the decisions you make now lay the foundation for your future.  Don’t be afraid to make the decisions that will make you happy. – Brighton at Dear Brighton

Be flexible. Be open for change… Change within yourself and change within others. You have to learn to forgive yourself as well as others because mistakes will happen and there will be plenty. Lastly, it’s ok to let go and often times it’s necessary for you to heal and move forward. Learn to let go of pride, sadness, anger and sometimes you have to be willing to let go of people too. Mostly… Enjoy life, live in the moment, love and embrace the people around you and mostly embrace and accept yourself. – Chris  at Chubbette Tales

Don’t you just love them?! Because I do! Thanks ladies!

Feel free to leave me birthday advice or tell me what you would tell your 24-year old self!

Quick shoutout to my parents, my 24th birthday wouldn’t be possible without you two! Love you!

Have a great day lovelies!

Loving Lately: Blogs I’m Lovin

Happy Tuesday ya’ll!

Thanks to all your wonderful thoughts, I’m feeling somewhat better. I still have this horrid cough and congestion but the sandpaper throat in my feeling has subsided. Hopefully in time for my 24th birthday coming very soon! Thank you SO much for all your well wishes especially for those of you who commented, tweeted or e-mailed me about feeling better, I truly appreciate it!

So I’ve had a follower of mine (talkin about you Yahanna 😉 ) ask me for my blog suggestions and I decided that it would fit PERFECTLY with Loving Lately today, linking up here with some of my favorites Niki and Rachel. Click on any of the blog headers to take you over to the blogs I featured!

My Party Idea Guru – Jordan Ferney. Complete brillance over at Oh Happy Day

I’m naturally a huge Lauren Conrad fan so I’ve been a follower of TBD since it’s birth! My beauty bible.

Any blogger that doesn’t want to be Elsie and Emma is CRAZY. Beautiful sisters with amazing style, beautiful DIYs and photos.

Ah Mish, a woman after my own heart. Her blog is hilarious. Emily lives the dream life, she’s designed her own bag for Coach!. Such beautiful style.

Reading Jessica’s blog just always puts me in such a good mood, she’s so sweet!Lauren just had a baby but I swear her sarcasm has only sharpened with her lack of sleep.

The photoshop tutorials on Pugly Pixel cannot be beat.

Beautiful photos and such creative DIYs!

I want to add in a few anecdotes about some of the links I share today:

  1.  I have so many wonderful blog friends that I read and comment on daily for various reasons because I love their blogs but also because I consider them my friends. I hope with all my heart they’re not offended if they’re not listed here. I LOVE your blogs but I’m looking to showcase specific blogs today to appeal certain masses and I hope you love some of these too!
  2.  I did list mostly blogs that we would consider as “bigger” blogs. These big blogs often provide me inspiration for my blog. At the end of the day, big blogs often have the staff and income to produce blogs that appeal to a wide mass, that’s why I’m sharing them today. With that being said I LOVE “smaller” blogs, much like my own and I promise I’ll do everything I can to help uplift smaller blogs by offering guest posts or social media shoutouts for you all. I’m in the process of updating my Blogroll which includes all my daily reads!

Do you love any of these blogs too?

Share other blogs you love, with me in a comment!

Time for the football rant that you knew was coming

(If you have no idea what happened last night, feel free to read!)

I’m going to go on a QUICK football rant because that was absolutely crazy. I mean every bad call is a bad call but last night was clearly disputable. For those of you who didn’t watch the game, the Seahawks threw a last minute pass which could have been ruled either a touchdown by the Seahawks or an interception by Green Bay. Referees ruled it in favor of the Seahawks and they won the game. Seahawks undoubtedly played a STELLAR defensive game and both teams worked hard for every point they scored but everyone is up in arms because the last play of the game had to be decided by the “replacement” referees who are standing in for the experienced referees (who are on a lockout for more money). I can’t stop watching the replays because there is undoubtedly wiggle room to defend either decision (even though I lean in favor of Green Bay on this one). All this means is there is a 100% chance everyone will be criticizing the NFL owners, begging them to end this referee lock out and I join them! C’mon guys! #EndThisLockoutNow But both teams played an AWESOME game!

Okay if you hate football, you can come back to me, I’m done! 🙂

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Simply Crafty: DIY Chevron Make-Up Bag

Hi there!

ERMAHGADDDD I’m still sick! For those of you who follow me on Twitter, I’m sorry all I can talk about is being ill but in case you haven’t noticed, I’m a MISERABLE sick person. Like incredibly unpleasant to be around because all I want to do is whine about being sick. It’s come back that is isn’t strep, so now I have no clue why my body hates me right now. Sigh. Bear with me, Happy Evani will come back some day.

Since I’m drowning in Halls cough drop wrappers, I’ve decided to repost a guest post I did at one of my favorite blogs Anna Delores Blog. So in case you haven’t seen it, here goes! Feel free to pin this, that would make my day! (Here’s the original post if you’re interested!)

So simple right? Anything I can paint chevron on, I will!

Will you do me a favor? Send happy thoughts, pray, ANYTHING that you can do, that this sickness will go away? My birthday is on Wednesday and I’d really love not to feel miserable…

I haven’t read any blogs since Friday and the unreasonably high amount on my Bloglovin count makes me want to just clear-all. So in case I do that, feel free to leave me a comment with any Friday or Weekend blog entries you recommend (whether they’re your blog or not!). I mean in general, your blogs are the most important ones for me to read anyways! 🙂

Also who watched that Ravens vs. Patriots game?!? AMAZING right?! 31-30, the Ravens fought hard for that W!

Last sidenote, the Emmys this year were hilarious! Can we just cut out all the award winning and keep doing the funny skits and stuff? That’s the best part. That and the SUPER awkward moments when they do close ups on the nominees faces and they have no clue what to do. That’s my JAM.

Hope your Monday is significantly better than mine!
