Simply Obsessing: Statement Necklaces

Happy Thursday everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July! Mine was spent exactly as it ought to be, relaxing. Rob and I spent a majority of the day lounging around after leisurely sleeping in and then going to Elk Grove Park for the fireworks show with my family. My Dad grilled up some steaks, red potatoes and we picnicked until the fireworks at night. Heavenly…

So for today’s current crush, I’ve been really into statement necklaces. Especially the J.crew bubble necklace that EVERYONE owns! My favorite way that statement necklaces are styled is with a neutral colored top but a bright pop of necklace and other accessories. Case and point, Jessica over at Lovely Little Things in this outfit. She’s rockin it right?!

To Do List: Spend time with loved ones

Happy Wednesday loves!

Last night, I took a step away from the blogosphere to spend quality time with some of my dearest friends. I had dinner and wine with my best friend Auva and spent 2 hours group chatting with my 2 long distance best friends, Chid and Eva. It’s so easy to get caught up in the millions of things we feel like we have to do everyday but at the end of the day, friends and family make life worth living.

So I’ve added to my to-do list to spend more time nurturing the relationships of people close to me. Whether that means cooking dinner for my family, more happy hours with friends or maybe some real life blog meet ups, I need to learn how to silence my phone, refrain from checking instagram or log off my computer more often to interact in real time. Yesterday was a wonderful example of that. Love you ladies!

Ever have those days when it feels good to just put down the laptop and spend time with the people you adore?

Bloggy Love

And since I don’t want you to leave empty-handed, I figured I’d share some of my must-read blogs:

I can’t get ENOUGH of Lauren, she is so honest, sarcastic but remarkably sweet. I adore her.

In reading one entry, Mish had my heart. By far, the funniest girl in the blog world and my total blog crush.

If anyone can make you LOL with hashtags, it’s Kristine. And she has the most adorable children!

So much of Simply Evani was inspired by Maggie. While I can only dream of being as talented and successful, she’s so incredibly open with her life and it makes me want to stay awhile.

None of these blogs are sponsors, I just genuinely love reading them!

Which blogs are your must reads??

Happy Hump Day!

Simply Obsessing: Hunger Games

So lesson #1 about me: I have an obsessive personality. When I love something, I LOVE it. When it comes to items I love, I want to own 5 of them.  True life examples:

– I “accidentally” go to Disneyland 3-4 times a year. It’s almost like an itch I can’t scratch, I love it there! We’re finally considering a season pass…
– I buy nearly all pairs of shoes in pairs. Not just a pair of shoes, I mean I buy 2 pairs of shoes at a time (sometimes the same pair in different colors).
– Every Harry Potter novel release required that I lock myself in my room with only water and refuse to leave until the novel was finished (bathroom breaks were allowed, food was not).

Speaking of Harry Potter, the ending of the series was hard on me. Wearing those 3D Harry Potter glasses for the final movie was among my highlights of 2011 (Sad? Maybe. Haha)  Stumbling upon the Hunger Games was the perfect way to rebound from that relationship. Fast forward to today and my sweet boyfriend used our Christmas movie vouchers to pre-order our Hunger Games midnight tickets. Sure, I have work in the morning but I can sleep when I’m dead. I can’t wait!

Below is the outfit I imagine Katniss wore into the arena (I threw in some amazing Alexander Wang sunglasses, they clearly left out of the novel) and approved Hunger Games memorabilia.

And for even more overzealous fans, here’s a great link to a blog that teaches us how to do the Katniss braid.

If you haven’t read the Hunger Games, I recommend that you do! It’s got enough action for the men but enough romance for the women. 🙂

I’m so excited! Leave me a comment just for fun!

Love,
Evani
