Blog Angel Reveal and Fitness Link-Up Info!

Happy Friday ya’ll!

It’s time for the Blog Angels Reveal (hosted by the lovely Craftbotic)!
I was lucky enough to be paired with the lovely Megan from Shaping up to be a Mom.

As her blog angel, I tried as hard as I could (while trying to be subtle) to comment on her blog often, share her posts on my Facebook and Twitter and I even sent out her giveaway link in some of my emails. I wish I could have done more though!

My favorite posts of Megan’s are the ones with pictures of her adorable kids Carter and Vanessa and her posts about her fitness journey. She definitely inspired me to start my own fitness journey recently by training for and completing her first half marathon! 13.1 miles, I was definitely proud of her (even if she has no clue who I am! haha)

The experience of being a blog angel was definitely an enjoyable one, it’s so important to step back from the craziness of blogging to think about someone else too! I hope Megan feels like I did a decent job this month, I’ve loved getting to know her!

Fitness Journey link up information

So I had a few bloggers encourage me to make my fitness journey posts a monthly link up and I’ve decided I’m going to do it! I want to emphasize that this journey ISN’T just about getting skinny, it’s about getting HEALTHY. Whether that’s more exercise, better diet, more doctor’s check ups, it’s about getting the body to a healthy state. And I want this link up to be different, to be a place to find and give support rather than find followers. Every month the link up will also include health and fitness tips from anyone willing to share their knowledge! So here’s a general outline of how it works:

Confessions – This can be for bad habits, realizations, the horrible truths! After your 1st time linking up, this will be where you assess how well you executed your goals (i.e. Confession: I completely failed at No-Fry August!). But confessions can also be good, like if you achieved weight loss or went for your annual check up.

Facts – Some people might call these excuses (and maybe they are) but this is your chance to air them out! Talk about why fitness is hard for you, why you ate especially bad for that month, why you didn’t feel like working out for that week; basically this is where you air your grievances! At the end of the day, nobody’s perfect and there will always be obstacles. This is a place to lay the obstacles out so we see them clearly (and so we can hurdle over them in our own time).

Goals – The easy/hard part! I’ll leave this completely up to you, to set your own goals! They can be food related, exercise related to even just health/wellness related. Just list the goals you plan to work on for the month!

All of this is really up to your interpretation and my format is just a suggestion! 🙂

**But again I want to emphasize, please don’t treat this like your standard link-up. I know sometimes we put our links on a linky list and never do anything with it (never visiting other sites and commenting or following). I want us to truly take the time to support each other and read about each other’s accomplishments. I don’t want this to be used to find followers, I want it to be more than that!

So anyways, if you’re still reading this obnoxiously long entry (THANK YOU!), I just wanted to give you a heads up that the 1st Let’s Get Physical Support Group (link up) will be happening on September 5th (the first Wednesday of the month). So if you wanted to get your blog post ready to link up, you know it’s coming! I have no flippin idea how to create those nifty “grab my button html” things on WordPress so I’ll work on getting something out on Sept. 4th (if you know how to do it on let me know please)!

Come join me on Sept 5th for the 1st ever Let’s Get Physical Support Group Link up!

Okay I’m done boring you to death with my words, I just hope you link up! 🙂

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Let’s Get Physical!

Happy Wednesday Lovelies!

So I’m knee deep in planning a birthday party and a baby shower so I promise some new DIYs are coming your way soon. 🙂 I’ll try to make them good, just for you!

But today, I’m not here to talk about sunshine and rainbows. I’m here to acknowledge my utter lack of fitness. I think I’m finally reaching the end of my denial so I’ll start with a few confessions (because being honest is the first step!):

Now here are some facts, things I honestly will have to work to change/work around:

At the end of the day I’m in my early 20s and I’m supposed to be in the best shape of my life. I can’t even IMAGINE how pregnancy will look if I don’t slim down! So fitness is happening, whether I like it or not. It’s time for some (attainable) goals!

So it might seem like a cop out that I don’t include more exercise goals but I want to find ways to enjoy exercise, not feeling forced into it. I don’t want to set myself up for failure and then be too embarrassed to continue. So unofficially, I’m going to attempt to exercise at least 3 times a week! And I’ll swap out fries for veggies more often too, I promise (and not because my taste buds say so, but because my body deserves it!) . Baby steps are steps nonetheless!

In case you’re taking off on a fitness journey too, feel free to grab the button and follow a similar format on your blog (Confessions, Facts and Goals). I’m considering making it a link up for month #2 so we can all rally and support each other, so let me know if you’d even be interested in linking up! I honestly wouldn’t be doing it for a numbers, I’m looking for fellow bloggers to support, get inspired and keep each other motivated. 🙂

Have you set new fitness goals lately? What’s your biggest physical or health challenge?

Happy Hump Day!

Me, Myself & I Link Up #1

Happy Tuesday loves!

So for the first time I decided to join the Me, Myself & I Link Up Party, where bloggers answer some questions about themselves! This is just what I needed because I know how badly my “About Me” tab needs major revamping…

Join in! 🙂

True life: I still cry when a needle approaches me. I am deathly, and I mean DEATHLY afraid of shots. And it’s not the pain of the shot I’m terrified of, it’s just an inexplicable feeling of anxiousness that comes with knowing a shot is coming. It can be as little as a TB test or a flu shot, either way I’m in hysterics for almost a half hour prior to the moment the needle is in me. I don’t have a fear of blood or needles either, its just needles approaching me that completely terrifies me. I know pregnancy is going to be miserable.

Oh wow, this question is HARD. I mean there are so many monumental days in my life so far: the day both my siblings were born, graduation (when my heel broke off) and even recently when my brother won state. But the night that sticks out most in this moment was senior year of high school, our football playoff game Sheldon vs. our rivals Elk Grove. Rob (who was just my “best friend” back then) was a captain for that game, playing starting O-line. It was SUCH a close game and in the last few seconds, Sheldon pulled out the most epic win. It’s like the feeling in the air was ELECTRIC that night, such joy and adrenaline everywhere. Everyone rushed the field cheering and I remember Rob coming straight to me and asked me out on our first date right then, standing on that field post victory. I’ll never forget us standing there hugging and just feeling like something big was happening. 6 years and 8 months later, I think it’s still one of my favorite memories of us together.

Truth be told, I think my favorite year so far was my 21st. It was the year I graduated college. It was the last year all my best friends would only be a 5 minute drive away. It was the year that recruitment fell on my birthday and my sorority played an inappropriate birthday song to me in front of our new members, which I laughed for days about. It was the year my roomy and I did house dinners and LOVED them. It was the last year I could go to Forever 21, spend all the money in my account and not worry about it. It was the year we cooked a full turkey for Thanksgiving for our friends. It was the year I could finally have a REAL drink, not made in a pitcher or giant cooler. It was the year of captaining a houseboat and Disneyland for spring break with my best friends.  It was the year I bought my first pet ever and loved him incessantly. Basically an all around GREAT year (clearly before adulthood happened lol)!

No one! I cringe at this question because I’m Pacific Islander and there’s like a grand total of 4 famous Pacific Islander celebrities in America (and unfortunately for me, I don’t look anything like Vanessa Minillo). But back in the day, a few people used to pay me the EXTREMELY high compliment of saying I looked like Kristin Kreuk from Smallville. I mean who doesn’t dream of looking like her?

Lol for the sake of laughing, I had to put this up. I mean if I were had a MUCH smaller and dainty face and if I were like 12 shades lighter and changed my bone structure, then MAYBE . But otherwise, those people were lying to me. Haha

Wow, this could go on forever but here are ones that would definitely be on there:

  • Backstreet Boys “As Long as You Love Me”
  • Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliat “Lucky”
  • Whitney Houston “How Will I Know”
  • The Script “Man Who Can’t Be Moved”
  • Journey “Don’t Stop Believing”
  • One Republic “Secrets”
  • Spice Girls “Wannabe”
  • John Lengend “Everybody Knows”

I hope you enjoyed learning more about me! 🙂

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for Essie Set In Stones, if you haven’t done so already! It ends Wednesday.
