Let’s Get Physical: October

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Ugh. I’ve been secretly dreading this moment because September was a hard fitness month for me. I’ll quit babbling, here goes:

At the end of the day, even if I didn’t make much progress I’m going to be honest with you all. But I will NOT come back to the fitness link up in November and tell you that I didn’t work out because I will. Honestly, I’ll probably have to do a weekly check-in on this whole fitness thing because I want to hold myself more accountable! Also, here’s my fitness inspiration, Dulce is so fit!

Andddddddd, I haven’t gone self-hosted on WordPress yet (feeling anxious about managing my blog 100%, without WordPress). This means the links will display in a separate window again, sorry! Click BELOW to enter your link!

Remember the rules to the link up, after you add your link, visit the 2 bloggers located above your link and leave an encouraging comment or fitness tip for them! If you want to be a superstar, feel free to visit all the bloggers who link up!

Please ONLY add your link if you are blogging about your fitness journey. This isn’t the standard link up to just merely gain followers,  this is for support and uplifting each other! If your link is not relevant, I will probably delete it. The Link up closes on Friday at 11:00 pm PST (Oct 5th). Feel free to link up until then!

I’m so thankful for each blogger that links up with me! I’ve got some good ideas for month #2 of Let’s Get Physical so join in!

Who is your fitness inspiration? What person do you picture when you think of your ideal shape?

Happy Hump Day!

25 before 25

Happy Wednesday everyone!

So I’ve been trying not to make a big deal about my birthday because more often than not, I stress myself to high heavens about planning the perfect party with all my friends there and it never 100% pans out. Now with even more of my friends in grad school in various parts of the US, I decided this year I would plan absolutely nothing. And it’s been so wonderful, I feel like this day snuck up on me and it was a really pleasant surprise. For a long time I had been planning on this list of things I want to accomplish by next year and since “25 before 25” had such a nice ring to it, here goes!

  1. Go on at least one international trip.
  2. Get rid of all the clothes that don’t fit me anymore (no excuses!).
  3. Legitimately run an entire 5K, no walking.
  4. Spend some time thinking about what truly makes me happy, and go after it.
  5. Eat at least 5 (new) meals that make my eyes roll to the back of my head.
  6. Find that “signature dish” that I can bring to potlucks, parties etc.
  7. Create that beautiful desk space I’ve been dreaming of.
  8. Drink at least 1 exorbitantly priced wine.
  9. Reconnect with 1 friend from the past (learn to forgive…).
  10. Plan a dinner party with friends.
  11. Do more things on impulse (minus shopping.. eek).
  12. Quit buying uncomfortable heels/shoes that I don’t really want to wear.
  13. Send more postal mail because it’s so much better than anything you can send virtually.
  14. Put away a legitimate amount of savings a month. Don’t shortchange yourself!
  15. Do at least 2 things that completely scare me.
  16. Pray more and Thank God more often.
  17. Tip an outrageous amont for at least 1 meal where the service was above and beyond.
  18. Learn how to sew.
  19. Put some serious work into my fitness journey.
  20. Donate to a charity or find a cause to fundraise for.
  21. Hug my brother and sister more often.
  22. Keep growing my blog but know that what matters most is the quality of reader.
  23. Do more nice things for Rob because he’s the best.
  24. Cook at least a meal a month for my family.
  25. Most importantly, when the going gets tough, remember how lucky I am to live my life (pity yourself less).

I asked a few of my favorite bloggers to send me some birthday advice or to share what advice they would share with their 24 year old self and I’m so happy with the response I got:

Eat More. Drink More. Travel More. Nuff said. – Rima at Bolu by Rima

Start each day, like it’s your birthday. – Kristine at The Foley Fam

If I were going to tell my 24 year old self something it’d be to figure out what exactly you think you want out of life/work/etc and go for it. It’s much easier when you’re younger. Just do it. And if you change your mind along the way, that’s okay. Have fun with your friends and family. Take chances and do the things you love. Tuck away some money into a savings account because you never know what may happen. Life does go on. A lot of those things I tell myself now too. I don’t think that much changes as you get older. Or maybe in my head I’m just still a lot younger. I don’t know. 🙂 – Melissa at Insert Sarcastic Remark Here

Don’t be afraid of the future.  You can do anything you want at 24 and all the decisions you make now lay the foundation for your future.  Don’t be afraid to make the decisions that will make you happy. – Brighton at Dear Brighton

Be flexible. Be open for change… Change within yourself and change within others. You have to learn to forgive yourself as well as others because mistakes will happen and there will be plenty. Lastly, it’s ok to let go and often times it’s necessary for you to heal and move forward. Learn to let go of pride, sadness, anger and sometimes you have to be willing to let go of people too. Mostly… Enjoy life, live in the moment, love and embrace the people around you and mostly embrace and accept yourself. – Chris  at Chubbette Tales

Don’t you just love them?! Because I do! Thanks ladies!

Feel free to leave me birthday advice or tell me what you would tell your 24-year old self!

Quick shoutout to my parents, my 24th birthday wouldn’t be possible without you two! Love you!

Have a great day lovelies!

Blog Angel Reveal and Fitness Link-Up Info!

Happy Friday ya’ll!

It’s time for the Blog Angels Reveal (hosted by the lovely Craftbotic)!
I was lucky enough to be paired with the lovely Megan from Shaping up to be a Mom.

As her blog angel, I tried as hard as I could (while trying to be subtle) to comment on her blog often, share her posts on my Facebook and Twitter and I even sent out her giveaway link in some of my emails. I wish I could have done more though!

My favorite posts of Megan’s are the ones with pictures of her adorable kids Carter and Vanessa and her posts about her fitness journey. She definitely inspired me to start my own fitness journey recently by training for and completing her first half marathon! 13.1 miles, I was definitely proud of her (even if she has no clue who I am! haha)

The experience of being a blog angel was definitely an enjoyable one, it’s so important to step back from the craziness of blogging to think about someone else too! I hope Megan feels like I did a decent job this month, I’ve loved getting to know her!

Fitness Journey link up information

So I had a few bloggers encourage me to make my fitness journey posts a monthly link up and I’ve decided I’m going to do it! I want to emphasize that this journey ISN’T just about getting skinny, it’s about getting HEALTHY. Whether that’s more exercise, better diet, more doctor’s check ups, it’s about getting the body to a healthy state. And I want this link up to be different, to be a place to find and give support rather than find followers. Every month the link up will also include health and fitness tips from anyone willing to share their knowledge! So here’s a general outline of how it works:

Confessions – This can be for bad habits, realizations, the horrible truths! After your 1st time linking up, this will be where you assess how well you executed your goals (i.e. Confession: I completely failed at No-Fry August!). But confessions can also be good, like if you achieved weight loss or went for your annual check up.

Facts – Some people might call these excuses (and maybe they are) but this is your chance to air them out! Talk about why fitness is hard for you, why you ate especially bad for that month, why you didn’t feel like working out for that week; basically this is where you air your grievances! At the end of the day, nobody’s perfect and there will always be obstacles. This is a place to lay the obstacles out so we see them clearly (and so we can hurdle over them in our own time).

Goals – The easy/hard part! I’ll leave this completely up to you, to set your own goals! They can be food related, exercise related to even just health/wellness related. Just list the goals you plan to work on for the month!

All of this is really up to your interpretation and my format is just a suggestion! 🙂

**But again I want to emphasize, please don’t treat this like your standard link-up. I know sometimes we put our links on a linky list and never do anything with it (never visiting other sites and commenting or following). I want us to truly take the time to support each other and read about each other’s accomplishments. I don’t want this to be used to find followers, I want it to be more than that!

So anyways, if you’re still reading this obnoxiously long entry (THANK YOU!), I just wanted to give you a heads up that the 1st Let’s Get Physical Support Group (link up) will be happening on September 5th (the first Wednesday of the month). So if you wanted to get your blog post ready to link up, you know it’s coming! I have no flippin idea how to create those nifty “grab my button html” things on WordPress so I’ll work on getting something out on Sept. 4th (if you know how to do it on WordPress.com let me know please)!

Come join me on Sept 5th for the 1st ever Let’s Get Physical Support Group Link up!

Okay I’m done boring you to death with my words, I just hope you link up! 🙂

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Let’s Get Physical!

Happy Wednesday Lovelies!

So I’m knee deep in planning a birthday party and a baby shower so I promise some new DIYs are coming your way soon. 🙂 I’ll try to make them good, just for you!

But today, I’m not here to talk about sunshine and rainbows. I’m here to acknowledge my utter lack of fitness. I think I’m finally reaching the end of my denial so I’ll start with a few confessions (because being honest is the first step!):

Now here are some facts, things I honestly will have to work to change/work around:

At the end of the day I’m in my early 20s and I’m supposed to be in the best shape of my life. I can’t even IMAGINE how pregnancy will look if I don’t slim down! So fitness is happening, whether I like it or not. It’s time for some (attainable) goals!

So it might seem like a cop out that I don’t include more exercise goals but I want to find ways to enjoy exercise, not feeling forced into it. I don’t want to set myself up for failure and then be too embarrassed to continue. So unofficially, I’m going to attempt to exercise at least 3 times a week! And I’ll swap out fries for veggies more often too, I promise (and not because my taste buds say so, but because my body deserves it!) . Baby steps are steps nonetheless!

In case you’re taking off on a fitness journey too, feel free to grab the button and follow a similar format on your blog (Confessions, Facts and Goals). I’m considering making it a link up for month #2 so we can all rally and support each other, so let me know if you’d even be interested in linking up! I honestly wouldn’t be doing it for a numbers, I’m looking for fellow bloggers to support, get inspired and keep each other motivated. 🙂

Have you set new fitness goals lately? What’s your biggest physical or health challenge?

Happy Hump Day!
