Simply Traveling: Santa Monica

Happy Thursday everyone!

I could not be ANY happier with the ladies that linked up with Let’s Get Physical yesterday! Check them out here because they’re all amazing (I promise) ! If you weren’t able to join us for September, feel free to join us for the next link up on October 10th.

On our recent trip down south, we stayed with a good friend of ours that lives in Brentwood, close to the Santa Monica pier. He was such a gracious host and he definitely made sure we had a great time. We ate A LOT… I’ll just let the picture speak for themselves.

Santa Monica Restaurants:

800 degrees – Like a Chipotle for pizza, you go down a line and create your own. AMAZING. Highly recommend the pesto sauce!

Diddy Riese -Cheapest ice cream cookie sandwich ever!

The Misfit – AMAZING Ahi Tuna and the best sea salt chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had. They also do an endless mimosa brunch I’m definitely returning for!

Although I wish maybe I would’ve thrown in a morning jog or two, I don’t regret any of the deliciousness posted above! Food is a big part of my life and I won’t apologize for that. But I can only eat like that on vacations, eating such AMAZING food daily would not only hurt my fitness journey but my Rob’s wallet too, eek!

I have NEVER had an Ahi Tuna Burger and I think my life was changed FOR-EH-VER. Do you have any recommendations of places where you love their ahi tuna burger??

In between all the food might’ve been a drink or two too. Let’s just say 32 oz Cabo Cantina Margarita vs. Evani: Margarita-1 Evani-0. (32 oz is A LOT people. Trust me on this. Haha)

What are your favorite spots in Santa Monica? Have you ever been? If you haven’t, I highly recommend it!

I can’t believe it’s almost Friday, YAY!

Good Eats: Paesano’s Happy Hour

Happy Sunday loves!

How do you feel about weekend entries? I was really happy with the response last week so I’m going to try my best to keep up with them. 🙂

So technically the Good Eats feature falls under Simply Traveling but I figure it couldn’t hurt to share local eats and I hope you don’t mind! I’ve been on this push for Happy Hours and good times with friends so I wanted to share a new favorite: Paesano’s Happy Hour in Midtown Sacramento (similar to other Paesano’s happy hours nationwide)

My personal favorite without a doubt was the Fried Ravioli. Maybe it’s because I have a penchant for fried objects or because I love ravioli. Either way, it’s a MEGA win. Also, the Polenta Fries are a must! Their sangria pitchers are yummy and super affordable too. I’ve been feeling like quite a wino lately, I’m finally starting to acquire a taste for it.

Do you have any happy hours you love? Maybe if it’s a franchise, there might be one near me too!

Shout out to the work friends who I went to this happy hour with, hope you girls are reading! 🙂

I’m having such a fabulous weekend in Santa Rosa (not Santa Ana, womp womp) and I can’t wait to share pictures with you soon!

Is it really almost Monday already!?

Good Eats : Sac Chef Challenge

This past Saturday, Rob’s Mom was lovely enough to buy us tickets to the Sacramento Chef Challenge event, benefitting InAlliance. It was an amazing event with a ton of food, a chef cook-off, cupcake bake-off and wine/beer tastings. At the door we were given a bag of goodies, including a wine glass and a wristband allowing us 5 beer/wine tastings. Needless to say, my wristband was well used!

It was my first time attending an event like this and it definitely won’t be my last! So many yummy things were had and my favorites were Shock Top raspberry wheat beer, It’s a Grind black tea sweetened with peach, the Dynamite salmon roll from Pyramid Alehouse, the strawberry shortcake cupcake from Vanilla Bean and the Lucero lemon olive oil.

Ladies, if you don’t find yourself enjoying beer you have to try Shock Top raspberry wheat beer. It’s delicious! Definitely a summer win.

The best part of the event is that the proceeds went to InAlliance, a nonprofit that supports people with developmental disabilities. Never has giving back felt so good :). Thanks Delia for the tickets and InAlliance for a wonderful fundraiser!

Have you ever been to an event like this? Do you like doing different summer weekend festivals?

And I linked up to the Instagram blog hop with A Night Owl, Let it Be Beautiful and A Pink Elephant, join me!

Good Eats: Leatherby’s Family Creamery

Happy Friday everyone!

I truly love sharing my blog with all of you and I can’t thank you enough for all the sweet comments and views! Also a big Gracias to two lovely ladies who featured me on their blogs this week, Emily over at Anna Delores Photography and Jess at Livin On Sweet Tea. You ladies rock!

So I’m going to be honest, I don’t have to travel far for this deliciousness (get real, it’s literally a 5 minute drive). But for any of you out-of-towners traveling through or to Northern California, I’ve got a spot right off the freeway to recommend. Sweet tooths of the blog world, meet Leatherbys Family Creamery!

So Leatherbys is a family owned creamery/diner where they make their own ice cream and toppings! I have a soft spot for Leatherbys because my parents used to go on dates to Leatherbys when they were younger and it’s been a part of our family ever since. Plus I love to support local businesses!

They have outrageous servings of ice cream like the Daddy Dave’s Sundae (the mound of ice cream pictured above) but my personal fav is a traditional vanilla and caramel sundae because their caramel is to DIE for. Just trust me on it. And the messy pour of toppings will work to your benefit, don’t hesitate to scoop it up! Also if you don’t like ice cream/sweets (like Rob) try one of their shakes, he raves about it.

So if you’re driving on the 99 through Elk Grove (just south of Sacramento), get off on Laguna Blvd and stop by Leatherbys! 🙂 Try the caramel, you won’t be disappointed. Better yet, call me and I’ll meet you there!

Winna Winna

I am so excited because I received the Swarovski Magazine that I won in a giveaway on Make it & Fake it! Its full of amazing jewelry and craft ideas and even came with a bag of Swarovski beads. So a big THANK YOU to Swarovski and Katrine for gifting me this wonderful package! I love it!

Beautiful right?!?

Friday Links to Love

I’m buying more “see-through” washi tape ASAP!

This is how you get custom color baskets! Brilliant.

I’ve been working on revamping my bathroom, these are happening!

Get in my mouth.

As soon as I have any free time (yea right!), get to planning these out.

Happy Friday loves!

P.S.  For a Simply Evani first, I’m hoping to get a post up this weekend too! Come check it out while you’re relaxing and enjoying the 2 glorious days off.

Good Eats: Umamicatessen

Happy Thursday everyone!

When I’m on vacations, I usually have 1 goal: To eat good food. The older I’ve gotten, the more adventurous I am with food but also a little more selective. You’d be hard pressed to get me to eat anything out of a box these days. But put me in a good restaurant and I’ll try anything under the sun. Food is one of the great loves of my life.

Anyways Rob is a burger man and I love a tasty burger too so Umami Burger is one of our favorite destinations. And long before Simply Evani was born, I blogged about our adventures in searching for Umami Burger in SF. So when google maps yet AGAIN led us astray and took us to a place called Umamicatessen, we were initially disappointed. But luckily, Umamicatessen is an Umami Burger and more, also featuring a kosher deli, a special pork menu AND fried to order doughnuts. I’m happy to report that after our meal, we weren’t disappointed at all!

So hipster. Like all Umami locations 🙂

Their onion rings are the crowning glory of sides. They are RIDIC.

I roughly have the taste buds of a man so onion stings, cheddar and chunks of bacon are RIGHT up my alley. The Manly burger is after my heart,

Their Dulce De Leche doughnut is SO yummy. Think churro in doughnut form.

Also, Umamicatessen is only a few streets down the the LA Fashion District so ladies, you can lure your man here for a meal and do a little shopping while you’re in Downtown LA! More on Santee Alley to come.

I’ve heard a LOT of good things about Father’s Office down in LA too, that’s on our list for our next SoCal trip! Any other burger places you suggest? I’d love to have burger/food recommendations from all over the U.S.!

Hope you’re salivating as much as I am now! Have a great day everyone!
