Simply Obsessing: Bogies Art Giveaway!

Happy Friday everyone!

With Father’s Day literally right around the corner, I am crazy excited to introduce you to one of my favorite artists in the world, Sam Boeger! Sam is an amazing artist (and a very dear friend all the way back to high school) who runs her own business named Bogies, doing everything from sketching, painting, pin striping and airbrushing. Here she is to introduce some of her art!

Hi everyone, Sam here!

I’m really excited to share some of my art with Simply Evani readers today! I picked up my first crayon at the age of 3, and I knew I wanted to become an artist. The enthusiasm and passion I have for art, is translated onto the canvas or current projects in my studio. I believe that we all have creativity in some form that needs to be expressed and shared with the world. My strong love for all things Disney, Starwars, and super heroes will always have a special spot in my heart. Which now include other obsessions such as Dexter, Firefly and Game of Thrones.  Being a freelance artist, I can take custom orders and commissions for almost anything you have in mind.

Through my art  I hope to energize, connect, and inspire others! Thanks again! and enjoy! 🙂

Simply Baking: Avenger Cake Pops

May 10th holds a special place in my heart for two reasons: 1. Rob, the love of my life was born on May 10th and 2. I made my first set of cake pops on May 10th of last year. I like to think my first set of cake pops created what Simply Evani is today because it opened my eyes to an entire world of crafting and baking I didn’t know before!

Rob and I started dating on Nov 12, 2005, our senior year of high school. Last year, my first cake pops were football themed for his birthday and this year, The Avengers came out with perfect timing. I wanted to try something new for me so I decided to go with upside-down cake pops and flag decorations. I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves!

The flavors were all White cake with either Strawberry or Caramel icing. I brought them to Rob’s office and got equal compliments on both flavors but I was personally partial to the Strawberry. I was told the Caramel tasted similar to Butterscotch.

The cake pop colors were created with Wilton candy melts. I made the flags with cardstock and images printed off the internet and attached them with the ever handy E600 glue.

If you would like the Printables, I made them available here for download!

What do you think of them?? I’m always trying to make “masculine” cake pops, did I pull it off?

Happy Birthday to my love! Thank you for being in my life for the past 6 years and I can’t wait for many many more!

Movies Made Easy: The Avengers

Images via: 1/2/3/4/5

Joking aside, The Avengers is such a winner for both guys and girls. I have a soft spot for Iron Man (I mean for a 47 year old, Robert Downey Jr makes you want him) but if you want someone younger, Thor or Captain America will float your boat. The best part is that there’s just enough action, comedy and eye candy to keep you (and your man) happy. For those of us who know little to nothing about Marvel comics, it’s easy enough to follow without having much of a background. Plus, talking superheroes can be such an easy way for ladies to score points with men of all ages. Next up on the Men Decoded series: Understanding Fantasy Football…

*Disclaimer: If you are a woman who truly loves Marvel for reasons other than men in spandex, please don’t take an offense to this post. This post is geared towards the women who know nothing about comic books so that they realize how amazing it is! If you’re a true fan, I hope the movie made all your Marvel dreams come true.
